“Young people need exciting places where they can just be themselves and safe places where they can access support and grasp opportunity. Places where we can offer positive challenges. Places that say ‘you are important; we care.’” Sir Steve Redgrave, myplace Support Team Ambassador myplace is a multi-million pound government programme to deliver world class places for young people to go. This £270 million programme aims to create world class youth facilities across England, including some of the most disadvantaged areas across the country. The programme provides capital grants of between £1 million and £5 million, which could help build a facility for young people in your area. The Government knows that giving young people access to positive activities is an important tool in helping communities tackle antisocial behaviour, as well as helping young people to engage in their communities. Delivered by the Big Lottery Fund, myplace will invest over the next three years in ambitious projects driven by the participation of young people. Do you have the vision and drive to work with young people to deliver a world class place for them to go? If so, myplace may be able to help you turn your ideas into reality. Funded projects must be able to deliver all the following outcomes:

The Big Lottery Fund and DfE have appointed the myplace support team to help organisations develop and submit high quality bids for this programme. “All across the country young people are calling for more great places to go where they have new and interesting things to do, that offer a real alternative to the ‘street corner’ culture. I would urge local partners across the public, third and private sectors to start preparations now to take full advantage of this myplace opportunity.” Beverley Hughes, former Minister for Children, Young People and Families. |
