Press Release - Birmingham Integrating Youth Project |
Top Facilities for Young People across Birmingham and Solihull
Awarded £4,999,802, the Integrating Youth Project, also run by Birmingham City Council with support from Bangladeshi Youth Forum, Birmingham Settlement, City United and Young Disciples, will be based in the deprived ward of Ladywood on the border of Aston and Lozells. It will contribute to the regeneration of the area, which has experienced a growth in violent crime and suffers problems with racial tensions. It is hoped this youth project will promote community cohesion.
Targeted at 13 to 19 year olds, the facility will boast a sports hall, youth radio station, IT room, kitchen, social area, media centre, workshop area and performance arts room. Activities will include sports, fitness, arts, music, education and social enterprise. There will also be drug and alcohol support services, sexual health advice, training advice, and counselling services. Total Award: £4,999,802 |
