Press Release - Dream Street

East London Youth Hub get multi-million go ahead

Youth-led projects in East London offering activities including music, art and sport have been given the go ahead with close to £20 million worth of government funding, announced today.

Young people in Havering can also look forward to better things to come, as a grant of £4,704,492 is awarded to the London Borough of Havering Council to fund the youth-led project, Dream Street. It will involve building a new centre in the Harold Hill area, which will include a recording studio, cycle and motorbike workshop, IT suite and an urban sports area for skateboarding, blades and BMX.

It will benefit 11 to 21 year olds and especially those who are not currently in education or employment by giving them new training opportunities. Support organisations* working in partnership with the Dream Street project will also provide advice on a range issues including careers, healthy lifestyles and sexual health.

Total Award: £4,704,492
Lead Organisation: London Borough of Havering
