The meeting was attended by over 60 local skateboard and BMX enthusiasts who were all eager to know more about the exciting new facility. The presentation, together with a Q & A session, was given by ‘Freestyle Skateparks', the company behind the innovative design. The skatepark will be the only indoor concrete pool and bowl complex in the UK and will also feature ramps, ‘hubbas' and obstacles! The plans were met with enthusiasm and anticipation from all the young people who attended the meeting! They were particularly excited by the specification of the park which includes a concrete pool with a 5ft to 8ft bowl.

An open meeting was held in February to launch the design for the innovative, state of the art indoor skatepark currently being built at Jarman Park, Hemel Hempstead. It was also an opportunity to announce that the facility will be called XC.
The opening of XC is eagerly awaited by skateboarders and BMX enthusiasts from all over the UK and their feedback and input to the project has been invaluable! XC is due to open at Jarman Park in July 2011 and will be the only centre of its kind in the UK. In addition to the skatepark there will be a 60 x 15metre climbing wall, the longest organic indoor caving facility in Europe, plus a challenging high ropes course. The facility will also feature a music recording studio, a band rehearsal room and an internet cafe as well as a teen focused health centre with counselling rooms. XC is being built by GB Building solutions and Sportspace are working closely with Dacorum Borough Council and the Youth Connexions service.
