Government funding for youth services

The Department for Education has published an overarching narrative that brings together all the issues from the discussion papers on the Positive for Youth web page.

Alongside this the Department has published a paper on Sector-led support for local authorities.

The paper states that Government "is providing additional funding of £230k in 2011-12 and £550k in 2012-13 to ensure local authorities get the support they need [to deliver youth services]."

The Department said this money was provided in the context of "the immediate challenges for local authorities as commissioners of services for young people".
