"This week, we have announced a new funding model for 2011 - 2012 which will support community organisations to recruit networks of partners and digital champions, building their capacity to help get whole communities online.
Community Capacity Builders grants of up to £40,000 will be awarded to organisations that have experience of partnership working, building capacity to deliver projects and helping people to get online. The aim of the project is to develop local networks of organisations, people and resources and mobilise them to help digitally excluded people understand the benefits of being online. We will support local partners to develop their skills, ideas and partnerships to get people in their communities online. Projects must also establish a sustainable model which can continue to deliver in the future with no additional financial support.
UK online centres from the community sector are being encouraged to apply for the funding by 12 noon on Friday 4 March. Applications are also welcome from new partner organisation in England who can demonstrate a track record of collaboration with other organisations and delivery of community projects. To be eligible, they must have signed up to become UK online centres' partners by 3 March. Please note: Private sector organisations will not be eligible to apply for Community Capacity Builders grant funding.
If you know of any organisations who you think may fit this description, do encourage them to find out more by visiting our website. Non-centre partners can find out more about joining the UK online centres' network here.
If you have any questions about this new funding model, please email ukonlinecentres@ufi.com. I look forward to receiving your application."
Best wishes
