OnSide is a new charity set up to bring together the public and private sectors across the North West to develop strong local partnerships to build new, world-class, town and city centre facilities for young people. OnSide's CEO is Jerry Glover MBE who is renowned for his work with the Bolton Lads and Girls Club.Jerry was delighted with how the event had turned out. He said: "Thanks to links into the myplace Support Team we were lucky enough to secure the services of Sir Steve Redgrave for the day. Sir Steve's involvement was a massive bonus and really helped recruit local companies to take part.Sir Steve enjoyed his day's golf; he presented the awards for the winners on the day & then gave an absolutely riveting talk on his days at the very top of World sport. He is a truly remarkable man and a great ambassador for our mission to build a network of 21st Century Youth Zones across the North West."
The charity works in partnership with myplace and their Oldham, Blackburn, Manchester and Carlisle Youth Zone projects are real jewels in the myplace crown.
Sir Steve has a charity of his own, the Steve Redgrave Fund, which aims to use the power of sport and sporting activity to bring about positive change in the loves of disadvantaged children, young people and their communities. It is a fantastic charity and has already forged its way beyond the £5m target Sir Steve set when launching the charity in 2001.
