David Fairbanks specialises in delivering physical regeneration and grant funded projects and heads up the Gleeds service across the myplace programme. David originally qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, gaining experience in a wide range of sectors and projects both in this country and abroad before going on to specialise within Gleeds. David went on to develop a team within Gleeds specialising in regeneration, heritage and grant assisted projects. He provides advice from inception, project development, strategic advice, business case development, project appraisal, cost planning, development appraisals, mentoring, preparation of funding bids, through to project monitoring. With an understanding of both private and public sector development requirements he has worked on diverse range of projects from public realm to restoration of heritage buildings to bringing forward multi million pound major regeneration sites. David is particularly proud of the work he did converting the redundant Grade II listed Devonshire Hospital in Buxton into a new campus for the University of Derby. ‘It was particularly pleasing,’ he explains ‘as it used heritage and education as a way of stimulating regeneration in this rural town.’ David is a keen football fan and enjoys playing when he can. He is also interested in travel, photography and the occasional bike ride.
