She has also worked as a researcher for the Edinburgh Convention Bureau and, in 2001, achieved an MSc in Information Science at Strathclyde University. ‘My career path was more zigzag than straight on’ Ute explains, ‘but I’m happy it took me where I am now, and wouldn’t want to have missed any experiences on the way.’ At Hall Aitken, Ute started off as the European Information Officer before moving into the consultant’s role about seven years ago. Since then, she has worked on and managed a great variety of projects including assisting the Scottish Government develop the new EU Structural Funds programmes and evaluating the Wansbeck LEGI programme. She also develops Hall Aitken's work around SROI (Social Return on Investment). Ute is quite proud of the fact that she is working as a consultant in a foreign country and is speaking a foreign language, but is particularly proud of the fact that her daughter is fluent in both English and German, even if as a teenager she finds it ‘totally embarrassing’ to speak German in front of her friends. Ute enjoys running, messy painting, live music, travelling, dancing, yoga-pilates, walking and pottering about.
