£15 Milliion of World Class Centres for North West Young PeopleYoung people in Manchester, Oldham and Trafford are putting their heads together to help design state-of-the-art youth facilities in their communities thanks to £15 million in government grants announced today. In Harpurhey, one of the most deprived areas of Manchester, where there are very few community facilities for young people, the charity OnSide Northwest Limited and Manchester City Council are working with area young people to develop a new centre that will include a sports hall with climbing wall, two multi-purpose halls and changing rooms, made possible with a £5 million myplace award. Catering for a variety of interests, eight to 21 year olds can choose from numerous sports, physical and cultural activities, such as climbing, boxing, fitness, arts, DJing and dance.
