Launching your myplace project

This page is designed to help you launch and promote your myplace project.  It also provides guidance on how to publicly acknowledge your award from myplace.

We have included links to useful guides to support the organisation of promotional activities and events for your myplace project. As part of this support, you will be able to request an ambassador visit to your project as part of your launch, using the contacts included in the guide.

BIG: Promoting Your ProjectThe first of these guides, Promoting your project, gives you information and contacts to help publicise the work you're doing and the events you want people to attend. It includes details on how to acknowledge your myplace grant and how to plan an event for your project.

This commitment to publicly acknowledge your award from myplace is important.  It shows people that you have received funding from the Department for Education via the Big Lottery Fund, and by promoting your project you are demonstrating where public money is being spent in their community.

BIG: Press Release TemplateThe Promoting Your Project guide also has advice about press releases and attracting media interest, including the contact details for the Big Lottery Fund press office, who are happy to check press releases before they are sent out and provide quotes to support any project event or activity. There is also a link to a myplace Press Release Template to make the process easier.

The Big Lottery Fund will provide each project with a plaque and you can also request a banner for events. The logo lock up is to be used on promotional materials, such as posters and leaflets, whenever possible, and on your website, so it is important to make sure you are using it appropriately.

A new UK Government took office on 11 May 2010. This means that myplace branding which includes a lock-up of three different logos, including the Department for Children, Schools and Families logo, is no longer current. For any new publications or other material please use only the myplace logo. Downloadable logos available in gif and eps formats from BIG website.
