artsplan_logoA new youth arts training course is being held on February 25 to teach the importance of inclusive practice.

Artsplan, the training and publications department of Artswork and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) are holding the special one day course on 25th February, 9.45 am- 4 pm, at Paddington Arts, London.

Rachel Preston, Artsplan development manager, said: "This course is suitable for anyone working within youth arts, looking to learn more about the issue of accessibility and ensure equal opportunities are a natural part of their project planning; as well as those who would like to include the arts in their current work with disabled young people".

This is a well established course, which was developed by Artsplan and Dada South. It's designed to inspire a greater appreciation of equal opportunities within youth arts.

Those taking part on the course will be encouraged to learn the importance of active inclusion by studying political and cultural environments, and exploring practical ways of making sure youth arts projects and venues are genuinely accessible to young disabled people - an issue myplace projects have recently been covering in some depth.

The course aims to leave participants with confidence about their responsibilities, and enthusiasm for engaging in youth arts practice with disabled young people.

Everyone who completes the course will be presented with a certificate, and a toolkit of practical resources, along with a copy of the ‘Access All Areas: disability and youth arts' guidelines book.

The one day course costs £80, and the fee includes lunch and refreshments.

ENYAN members can request a 5% discount on all Artsplan publications and training.
