Artsplan - New youth training courses for professionals and volunteers

The largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK have launched a range of courses this year for professionals and volunteers, and they're very excited about it.

Artsplan, the training and publications department of Artswork, runs more than 20 courses, which cover all kinds of practical issues that people involved in the youth work sector are likely to come across.   Numerous high profile organisations including English Heritage, Worthing Borough Council and Youth Music Theatre UK have taken part in Artsplan's training courses, and this year they're aiming to involve even more youth work professionals and volunteers.

The project was started by Artswork, a national youth arts development agency, to respond to demand from the Youth Arts sector in the UK for structured training courses and publications.   The training is aimed at teaching the skills necessary for professionals and volunteers to help young people aged 12-25 in a variety of environments.   Artsplan aims to offer opportunities for professional development, networking, ideas and skills sharing to enable its participants to achieve the highest standards within youth arts.

Artsplan offers four types of training opportunities, at three levels:

• One day creative workshops
• Six day accredited training
• Distanced learning courses
• Tailored training / Consultancy

There are also different ways to take advantage of these opportunities which don't take up a lot of your time or interfere with other work or education. Training is delivered for individuals and organisations through open and organisation courses respectively - which involve one day creative workshops and six day accredited training courses. Organisations also have the chance to take tailored training and consultancy classes which can be obtained anywhere in the country if arranged on time.   There's also distance learning for people with very little free time which meets the needs of people who want to develop their skills and improve their CV, but who are faced with access problems.
