Bolton lads and Girls Club host myplace support team staff

Staff from the myplace support team were given an inside angle on the workings of a world class youth facility when they held their team meeting at the Bolton Lads & Girls Club in April.

After making use of the excellent conference and meeting facilities the Hall Aitken staff had the opportunity to visit the gym and boxing ring that Olympic gold medallist and international lightweight champion Amir Khan learned to box in.  The club's recent fund-raising gala night was attended by Coronation Street's Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey) and a host of other local dignitaries.

Club staff also showed us the sports hall, rehearsal space and arts facilities before answering questions about how the Club is managed and funded.  The Club's state-of-the-art facilities are used by 3,000 young people every week and have inspired 300 volunteers from the local community to get involved with young people.

Denis Donoghue who is involved in researching lead practice for the myplace support team said:

‘I was amazed at just how much was going on at the club and what a busy place it was.  Everywhere you look there are posters and leaflets publicising what they have achieved and sharing good news with club members.  It seems like there's a real ethos of celebrating success that helps inspire others.'
