capacity buildersA series of case studies examining how the services from third sector support providers have become more sustainable using funding from Capacitybuilders in England are now available from their Improving Support website.

Funded by Capacitybuilders, Improving Support brings together practical resources and information for third sector support organisations.

The case studies will help support providers looking to improve the sustainability of their services by providing examples of Capacitybuilders' work, and third sector funders wanting to follow in their footsteps and provide sustainable improvements in support services.

The case studies include:

  • Warwickshire CAVA: Merging support providers in Warwickshire brings efficiencies without losing local presence.
  • Voluntary Action Rutland: A new building boosts the income of this rural CVS and improves the facilities for local third sector organisations.
  • Merseyside Employment Law (MEL): MEL has taken a dual approach to sustain its support services - through a capital project and establishing a Community Interest Company.
  • Bournemouth and Poole CVS: Bournemouth and Poole CVS have used funding from Capacitybuilders to further their joint working arrangements and launch new services, which has led to a better reputation with strategic partners.
  • Volunteers, legacies and trading - NCVO case study: Learn how Bath Cats and Dogs Home are working towards a more sustainable funding strategy with charity shops and trading.

Capacitybuilders invest in improving support and advice available to charities, voluntary and community groups and social enterprises.
