A new website offering young people amazing opportunities on television programmes, projects and competitions has been launched.

We Need Young People is a directory of opportunities for young people to get involved with. If companies need young people to fulfil specific roles then their information is collated on the website making it easy for young people to view what's available and then apply.

There is a variety of opportunities on offer including book and music editors for Penguin Books, a magistrate's court mock trial competition, and disabled student diarists for the BBC website. There are loads of others also available with new opportunities being added all the time.

The website was created by YouthNet worker Oliver Benson who was involved with their Do-It volunteering database.

He said: "There are countless requests for young people to get involved in consultations, TV programmes, debates, surveys and so on.

"There are some great schemes and competitions available for young people to enter. This website is a way of collating them."

Getting involved will be a huge amount of fun and will also look great on your CV. You will get to meet like-minded people and also people who work in an industry you are perhaps interested in looking into as a future career.
