Participation Works is a consortium of six national children and young people's agencies that enables organisations to effectively involve children and young people in the development, delivery and evaluation of services that affect their lives. They are running a series of useful looking workshops coming up in the next couple of months: Ready Steady ChangeA one-day course that introduces participants to a selection of training methods and tools to enhance their skills and knowledge in increasing children and young people's effective participation in decision-making. The course focuses on values, change and action. Ready Steady Change approaches participation from a children's rights framework and is suitable for all individuals involved in participation work. 8 June BirminghamSafeguarding in Youth ParticipationA one-day course designed to support organisations in developing and applying safe policies and procedures when working with young people. It also addresses key signs to look for if a young person is being harmed within a project or externally. The key elements of a child protection and safeguarding policy and procedure will be introduced, providing participants with the basic knowledge and understanding to write their own bespoke policy and procedures. 24 June LeedsBuilding a Culture of ParticipationExplores how an organisation's culture can be established and embedded to support children and young people's active and meaningful participation within the organisational infrastructure. This practical course is supported by work undertaken by NCB and PK Research Consultancy. 8 July BirminghamHow to work successfully with children and young people from various faiths and culturesThese innovative one-day training courses are based on the popular Participation Works ‘How To' guides. Training will be practical, accessible and informative, and provide participants with a range of resources to implement the training in their own organisations.
