moneyWe have recently been made aware of a host of funding sources that may be of interest to you, all of which hand out grants for projects involving young people. So have a browse through the information below and see if your project is eligible for a little extra money.

 

 

 

European Youth Foundation - Pilot Projects 2011

The European Youth Foundation is an independent organisation dedicated to encouraging co-operation among young people in Europe. The Foundation is currently inviting funding applications to support pilot projects with a European dimension that help young people, in particular the disadvantaged, to find ways of meeting both the challenges facing them and their own aspirations; to encourage new forms of youth participation and organisation; to contribute to social cohesion.

comicreliefComic Relief UK Grants Programme

Comic Relief's UK Grants Programme will reopen for applications on the 8th April 2011 and will close for applications on the 1st July. The programme makes grants of between £25,000 and £40,000 per year for projects relating to young people with mental health problems or who have suffered from abuse.

sitatrustYoung Persons Volunteering Fund

The Sita Trust has announced the next funding round of its new Young Person's Volunteering Fund. Through this new fund, the SITA Trust can provide grants of up to £10,000 for volunteering projects owned by 14-25 year olds. The SITA Trust can support projects in any of 90 funding zones around qualifying waste processing sites operated by their donor, SITA UK. This fund has been created to assist young people aged 14-25 to volunteer their time to create or enhance facilities that can be enjoyed by the wider community. The closing date for applications is 10am on the 21st February 2011.

helpthehomelessHelp The Homeless


Help the Homeless is currently accepting applications from small and medium sized charities and voluntary organisations. Grants of up to £3,000 are available towards capital costs to support projects that assist disadvantaged individuals in their return to mainstream society, through residential or training facilities. Grants to larger charities may be considered if the project is suitable innovative and only possible for a larger organisation to develop it. The next application deadline is the 31st March 2011.

nominetFunding for IT Projects Supporting Disadvantaged Groups

Funding from the Nominet Trust is available to organisations with innovative IT related project ideas that can make a positive difference to disadvantaged and vulnerable. The Trust is particularly interested in funding projects that can be scaled up and replicated. A previous project supported through the Trust is Pottery Primary School, Belper, which received funding towards the costs of printed material to raise awareness to parents, children and the community of internet risks and safety measures. The next closing date for applications is the 14th March 2011.

shelllivewire£1,000 Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Awards

The Shell LiveWIRE Grants Ideas Award is now open to applications to young entrepreneurs aged between 16 and 30 years of age. Each month, six awards of £1,000 will be awarded to new businesses with the most innovative and unusual ideas. This annual award will re-open for entries in the summer of 2011.

afmsThe Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust

The Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust supports projects that allow disadvantaged young people the chance to develop an existing interest in the great outdoors. Projects the fund has supported in the past include a £300 grant of a Youth Forum in Lancashire to support a programme of outdoor activities, and £500 grant for a group of young people from Bradford to go on a residential outdoor activities course in Scotland.

youthmusicFunding for Music Making Activities

Youth Music, the UK's largest children's music charity has announced its grant making programme is open for applications. Grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 are available to support projects that provide music-making activities for children and young people in support of Youth Music's goals. Youth Music aims to support music making activities principally in out of school hours such as during weekends, holidays as well as in breakfast and after schools clubs. The next closing date for applications is the 10 March 2011.

sportenglandSportsmatch to Re-open for Applications in the New Year

Sport England has announced that the Sportsmatch scheme will re-open for applications on the 17th January 2011. Sportsmatch offers pound for pound matched funding to investments made by businesses, trusts and individuals into projects that encourage sports participation at grass roots level. The funding available is primarily for running costs (maximum grant £100,000) although capital awards of up to £25,000 can be made through the scheme. Since its original launch in November 1992, Sportsmatch, together with commercial sponsorship, has invested more than £102 million into 5,784 community sports projects across England.

Inspired Facilities Fund

Sport England has also announced the Inspired Facilities Fund. As part of the £135m Places People Play initiative,this is a locally-focused fund, which will launch in February 2011 and will open to applications from April. The fund will be open to clubs, community and voluntary sector groups and councils, and will offer grants of between £25,000 and £150,000 towards projects that can prove a local need for a facility to be modernised, extended or modified to open up new sporting opportunities. Inspired Facilities aims to fund up to 1,000 local sport facilities.

The European Commission has announced the 2011 call for proposals under its Youth in Action Programme. Youth in Action aims to inspire a sense of active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future. It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU's borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background. The total level of funding available for the 2011 call is over €122 million.
