Phil, who suffered severe spinal chord injuries in 2008, started the challenge at 10am Sunday 25th April and successfully finished at 12 noon the following day, smashing his record, set last year, by 13 days. He walked each mile with a Support Walker who was between the ages 16 and 25 and nominated by each charity.
Some of the charities Phil raised money for included Mencap, Scope, CRY, NSPCC and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. For the last 365 yards of the marathon, all of the young representatives of the charities joined him to cross the line together.
Phil's aim is to inspire and raise money for young people with a disability, deprived young people and to support injured service personnel. As well as walking the London Marathon, he has done this by completing a series of extraordinary challenges that have seen him rowing the English Channel and climbing El Capitan mountain, raising over £13m.
Speaking as he crossed the finish line, Phil said: "Last year it took 14 days - I think you could say this is some improvement. This was tough."
Phil is now focusing his time and effort on building a multi-million pound, eco-friendly British Centre of Excellence, designed to inspire and enthuse young people with disabilities.
