New Jobs for Young People

future_jobs_fundThe Government has given hope to young people in the recession by announcing the creation of 7,500 jobs specifically for them.As part of its Future Jobs Fund, the Government will make positions available in a variety of sectors. One such sector is sport where 2000 posts are to be made, including opportunities to coach football,swimming and tennis.

 

footballNew employees will be assisted by the National skills Academy for Sport, which will offer training in coaching, leadership and sport development. Up to 200 sports coaching jobs will be created through the Football League Trust. The remaining 5,500 jobs will be across horticulture, renewable energy, construction and the NHS.

 

Work and Pensions Secretary, Yvette Cooper, says that despite recession the government is fully committed to finding jobs for young people.

 

Tennis buddiesShe said: "Never again must we see a generation lost to work. We know things will be tougher for some time and unemployment is likely to keep increasing for a while even once the economy is growing. But that's why we're so determined to keep increasing support so that young people can get the jobs and training they need."

 

Ben Bradshaw, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, said the positions would offer exciting new prospects for young people.

 

The CoachHe said: "These jobs will help to create a new generation of talented sports coaches, administrators and community health workers - exactly the people who will help us deliver a lasting legacy from the London Olympics."

 

Announced in the budget earlier the year, the Future Jobs Fund, will provide funding for 150,000 jobs, of which least 100,000 will be for young people. Thus far the £1b fund has created nearly 55,000 jobs.
