Roadshows highlighting positive activities for young people

A series of Regional Young People's Commissioning Roadshows are being held throughout October and November and will help those attending better understand and implement the commissioning and provision of effective positive activities for young people in their region.

The roadshows are being run jointly by the Youth Sector Development Fund (YSDF) and the Commissioning Support Programme (CSP) and are about networking and developing a link between commissioners and providers focused on outcomes and solutions. The events will centre on developing practical and locally relevant solutions to issues raised by providers and commissioners.

The objectives of the events are as followed:

• Provide networking opportunities, enabling commissioners and providers of positive activities to make links
• Providing information and advice to commissioners and providers of youth activities
• Helping commissioners to develop diverse, equitable provider markets
• Highlighting the policy and statutory aspects of commissioning positive activities and the implications for commissioners and providers.
• Providing support to meet recent increased expectations around commissioning and provision of positive activities for young people on Friday and Saturday nights.
• Helping place outcomes for young people at the heart of the commissioning cycle.

There is lots planned throughout the day, including plenary briefings, question and answer sessions, interactive workshops and a ‘market stall' space allowing providers to exhibit examples of their services.

The roadshows will run from 9am - 4.30pm at the following venues:

• Yorkshire and Humber - Barcelo Majestic Hotel, Harrogate - 15^th Oct
• South East - Epsom Downs Racecourse - 16^th Oct
• North East - Newcastle Racecourse - 19^th Oct
• West Midlands - Wolverhampton Racecourse - 22^nd Oct
• East of England - Newmarket Racecourse - 23 Oct
• East Midlands - East Midlands Conference Centre, Notts - 2^nd Nov
• South West - Swindon Football Club - 4^th Nov
• North West - Reebok Stadium, Bolton - 5^th Nov
• London - Lords Cricket Ground - 6^th Nov

The YSDF promotes support and growth and build capacity within third sector organisations who deliver effective services and activities for young people in England, particularly the most disadvantaged.

The CSP works with children's trusts and other stakeholders to create a community of practice for children's trusts that will facilitate shared learning, sharing of good practice and joing problem solving to enable a step change in the improvement of commissioning practice across the country.
