Sorrell Foundation to Offer Inspirational Support

The Sorrell Foundation is working with fifteen myplace projects to enhance the outcome of the built youth centre.

The programme works by listening to the voices of the young people who will use the centres, giving them the role and responsibility of clients on their project; and by inviting some of the UK's most creative designers and architects (our Creative Teams) to work for them. The DCSF invited us to work on this programme to ensure that each youth centre is truly ‘world-class' in all aspects of their design, and that young people are in the driving seat throughout the development.

The work will take place before Big Lottery's end-of-summer deadline for the submission of business and building plans, and will involve an ongoing conversation between the Creative Team and the Client Team of young people.

The Creative Team will be made up of the following professionals:

• An architect, who will produce a concept for the building design
• A graphic designer, who will produce a concept for the brand of the centre

Additionally, The Sorrell Foundation has put together a Creative Content Team of professionals from the creative industries. They will be responsible for pushing the boundaries of traditional youth provision by proposing programmes that each centre could run, and/ or setting up sustainable partnerships with other organisations.

The findings of our programme will be published and disseminated later on in the year.
