Young people are the future advocates for heritage, and HLF are keen to encourage projects that enable them to gain new insights, skills and experiences. There is a dedicated Young Roots Programme providing grants of between £3,000 and £25,000, for heritage projects involving 13-25 year-olds. Young Roots projects stem directly from young peoples' interests and ideas, harnessing their creativity and energy and helping them work with others in their local community.

HLF are holding a FREE event to let you know about the funding opportunities for youth projects from HLF.

The morning will include the premiere of a short film showcasing the achievements of projects funded by HLF, case studies of successful projects and advice and support on how to apply for funding.

If you wish to attend, please contact Rachel Evans by telephone on 0121 616 6879 or email Rachele@hlf.org.uk or westmidlands@hlf.org.uk

And remember, heritage is more than just old buildings! This year HLF celebrates its 15th anniversary and over the last 15 years we have supported applications from all types of groups, for all kinds of heritage projects. By heritage HLF mean those things that people value from their past and want to preserve for the future, which has included people's memories, cultures and traditions, wildlife, archives, and historic places.
