Partnership working in Newcastle |
|
People and organisations become involved in the projects to lend services, expertise and just generally help out. They can be of huge benefit to myplace projects, and most successful projects could not have survived without them.
Granted, partnerships don't always work out for the best, but with some forethought and planning they can be invaluable.
A successful example of partnership working has been demonstrated by Newcastle City Council. They use a project board approach which brings together representatives from all areas of the project team, all relevant LA departments, and key external partners. By doing this they can ensure ongoing involvement and support from people and groups involved in the projects, such as legal services and architects. This helps to take the pressure off. If problems crop up then they can be directed towards the people best suited to deal with them.
There are four myplace projects taking place in the North East, with a combined funding of over £19m.
One such project is the myplace@Vine Street development. The centre, aimed at 13 to 19 year-olds, aims to be a world-class focal point for young people in Newcastle. Open seven days a week it will offer a wide range of sports, leisure facilities and support services.
