East London Youth Hub get multi-million go aheadYouth-led projects in East London offering activities including music, art and sport have been given the go ahead with close to £20 million worth of government funding, announced today. In Newham, the grant of £4,980,000 will transform what is available for young people, by creating the Plashet Young People’s Hub, which will involve the opinions of young people and their ideas at every stage. The new Hub will include a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities including a computer suite, recording studio, chill out zone, abseiling tower, mountain bike track and allotment. The grant is awarded to Community Links who through the project, hope to provide positive opportunities for young people aged 13 to 19 years in an area that is currently lacking in youth projects. Working with partner organisations* the project will also provide advice and support on issues such as on training, employment and housing.
