Author: Department for Communities and Local Government (June 2007)

The research was commissioned to contribute to the work of the Commission on Integration and Cohesion, which operated as a fixed term body from August 2006 to June 2007, as well as the ongoing work of Communities and Local Government. It was based on visits to six case study areas, intended to identify some best practice approaches on how cohesion work might be organised in local authority area, and what types of initiatives are effective in supporting community cohesion. The report includes detailed and specific learning points about the types of project and approach that have been seen to work, and draws out some common strands from across all the visits.
