Abdi Hassan, aged 18, said: “When I first moved to Stoke Aldermoor in Coventry, I did not know anyone and I found it hard to fit in. Then I joined a small youth club with YMCA and things started to change. I have now become a young leader (Volunteer) for the YMCA, I’m learning about youth work and I was part of a steering group of young people whose ideas and dreams are part of this bid. “I think a new youth facility will be really good for the area, providing more opportunities for people like me. I think more young people will want to get involved, be able to learn new skills, make new friends and look forward to a better future, when they have a world class centre for them to call their own.” Total Award: £2,227,748 |
