£15 Million of World Class Centres for North West Young PeopleYoung people in Manchester, Oldham and Trafford are putting their heads together to help design state-of-the-art youth facilities in their communities thanks to £15 million in government grants announced today. At the Broadoak High School in Partington, Trafford, a new world class centre, designed with local young people aged 11 to 19, will aim to expand the area’s leisure and educational facilities while providing community cohesion, serving also younger and older youth. Jennifer O’Neill, a Year 11 pupil at the school who has been involved with the project said: “I am really excited about everything that is going to be available to us. It will bring us fantastic opportunities that will be available to us and all of Trafford. It feels personal to us at Broadoak, especially, as we have been able to have our input from the very beginning. Hopefully Myplace at the Youth Village will Trafford together for events and activities. It will be run by youth champions who will be elected by young people in their district.” The new facility, being developed with Partington and Carrington Youth Partnership, Partington Housing Association, Trafford Borough Council and Trafford PCT will provide services and a health clinic.
