1   Link   New £2 million Access to Volunteering Pilot Fund Launched
The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has announced the launch of a new £2 million Access to Volunteering Pilot Fund. Organisations in Greater London, the West Midlands and the North West can apply for grants of between £250 and £5,000, which can be used to help overcome barriers that stop disabled people volunteering, such as specific equipment, a lack of suitable access and understanding of disability issues. In addition to supporting disabled volunteers, the pilot will test different ways to apply for funds such as video applications and face-to-face pitches.

2   Link   Government Launches International Citizen Service Scheme (UK)
The Department for International Development (DFID) has announced 'International Citizen Service', the new volunteering scheme launched by the Government aimed at giving young people across the UK the opportunity to travel to developing countries and fight against poverty. The focus of the programme will be on young volunteers between the ages of 18 and 22, who will work on social action projects for three month periods, in some places alongside older and more experienced volunteers on longer placements. Projects on which volunteers could be involved with include; Youth projects to tackle HIV/AIDS in South Africa; supporting carers in orphanages in Haiti; providing assistance in primary schools in Ghana; carrying out environmental conservation in Bangladesh. The cost of the placements will be means tested so that the scheme can provide opportunities to a wide spectrum of people from all backgrounds. In the pilot year (2011/12) places will be offered to 1,000 young people and to 250 more experienced older people. From 2013, International Citizen Service will seek to include graduates of the UK-based National Citizen Service programme for 16 year-olds. DFID will work with specialist volunteering agencies to pilot the scheme in the first year. For further information click on the link below.

3   Link   Jack Petchey Foundation Announces New Grants Programme (London & Essex)
The Jack Petchey Foundation which is one of the largest grant making foundations for projects that benefit young people aged between 11-25 in Greater London and Essex, has announced that it will be introducing a new programme of individual grants for volunteering. These grants will directly support young people who want to undertake voluntary work in the community. Since it was established 10 years ago, the Foundation has distributed over £60 million in grants.

4   Link   SITA Young Person’s Volunteering Fund
The Sita Trust has announced the next funding round of its new Young Person's Volunteering Fund. Through this new fund, the SITA Trust can provide grants of up to £10,000 for volunteering projects owned by 14-25 year olds. The SITA Trust can support projects in any of 90 funding zones around qualifying waste processing sites operated by their donor, SITA UK. This fund has been created to assist young people aged 14-25 to volunteer their time to create or enhance facilities that can be enjoyed by the wider community. To be eligible applicants must be able to demonstrate that young people will be fully involved in the design and development of the project and projects must be compliant with the rules of the Landfill Communities Fund. The closing date for applications is 10am on the 21st February 2011.

7   Link   Grants and Contracts to Support the European Year Of Volunteering (England)
The Cabinet Office has announced the availability of small scale contracts and grants for organisations to develop and implement activity within England, as part of the national work programme for European Year of Volunteering. The Office for Civil Society has identified national priorities which support the Big Society Vision, and is seeking partner organisations to support the development and implementation of activities within England which relate to these priorities. There are three contracts available these are; Employer Supported volunteering lead; volunteer management lead; opening the door to volunteering lead. Those organisations interested in bidding to run one or more of these contracts should go to www.supply2.gov.uk, or email eyv2011@cabinetoffice.x.gsi.gov.uk for further details. Funding is also available to five civil society organisations or consortia organisations to develop and deliver a programme of activities under five identified themes; Young people and children; environment; sport; culture and the arts; health and social care.
