New Youth Centres to Deliver Wow Factor in Bristol and BathYoung people across Bristol and Bath will soon be able to access a host of new activities from music production to martial arts thanks to a £7 million boost from the government.
In Bristol, a partnership led by the youth organisation Young Bristol has secured more than £5m to create a brand new facility in the city centre that will give local young people, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds or at risk of anti-social behaviour, a place to go. A team of young consultants has informed proposals for the new centre, which will be built in the heart of the city on the site of the former Bridewell Police Station. The new venue will feature a range of world-class facilities, including a climbing wall, outdoor ball court and fitness suite, a health and beauty room, radio, film and music studios, retail outlets, exhibition areas and a café and kitchen Trevor Jones, Chief Executive of Young Bristol said: “This is brilliant news for the young people of our city. We’ve had a vision for such a facility for the last eight years and now it’s just a couple of years away from becoming a reality. The young consultants that have been involved in planning this world-class facility have ensured that it will have everything that local young people want and need.” As well as new activities, the new venue will give young people access to a range of support services, from health advice and counselling, to education, skills and employment services.
